I am a general purpose user looking for an iMac and to save money at the same time. I have decided on the following desktop:

Refurbished iMac 24-inch
2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
24-inch glossy widescreen display
1GB memory
320GB hard drive
8x SuperDrive (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO with 256MB memory

For $1430 tax included from Apple.

I know that this is now outdated but it technically isn't even a year old yet. Is this a good deal? I'm all about the 24" iMac even though the 20" high end is cheaper and has a better processor and everything. I just want a bigger screen, especially for watching movies and stuff. I'm looking to save as much money as possible while still getting a 24" Aluminum iMac. So, is this a good deal then? Will it last through many OS and software updates with those specs? I want this to last me at least 4 years.

Well obviously the high-end 20" is faster, but the 24" is a totally different class and yes it is a good deal. Just upgrade the RAM to 2GB or more.

Is that a good deal...YES

You'll definatly survive snow leopard, but after that you might see it's performace start decreasing with newer OS versions.

Will it last you 4 years...possibly, but you're definatly going to have to put 3-4GB of RAM in it if you want it to last that long.

Yeah, my plan was to take the RAM up to 4GB. So you guys think that I should go ahead with this purchase?
