Is this a good monitor for Macbook pro?

I really love the macbook display but it's too small for watching movies. Do you think that monitor is good for watching movies and light video editing?

I've heard some monitors have flickering issues with Macbooks. How do I know if I won't face that problem?

It’s a pretty poor monitor in terms of image quality due to the VA panel. Decent for media consumption, but not for productivity and media editing.

i don't recommend 32inch 4k for macos, the pixel density is quite poor and if you are used to the mbp display, the text will look somewhat blurry and not up to standard.

VA monitors have narrow viewing angles. For more than one person sitting on center, they make lousy monitors for viewing media. I have one.

What monitor do you recommend for watching movies and editing? I've heard IPS panels are not as good as VA panels in terms of having rich black and colors.

I'm the only person who's gonna be watching movies on it.

Are you happy with the quality? What model do you have?

Something IPS, preferably with IPS Black.

Each type of panel has its strength and weaknesses, but IPS is preferred by most people. Apple only offers IPS monitors and virtually all productivity monitors are IPS.

On a flat VA panel as large as 32-inch, you'll see likely see color distortion at the edges. That's why most VA panels 32-inch and above are curved, not because it looks cool, but because it's necessary to maintain the same viewing angles on VA, even for a single viewer.

It’s an old, circa 2016, BenQ 1080. I use it as an all around display. It’s fine. Put it this way, I’m between homes for a year while a renovation is in process. I took an older HP UltraSharp IPS with me and the BenQ is in storage. VA panels look great on center, have slower response times so not for gaming, cost effective. For what you save I'm inclined to do IPS for monitors and VA for TV's as long as the viewers are on the same sofa (as in my den which has a Sony VA 65”).

As another suggested, look for USB-C and know/proven solutions that people are happy with. The Accessories forum might be a good place to look.

Edit: Dell, not HP, UltraSharp

The contrast ratio for this is 1:2000. Is there a huge difference between 1:3000 and 1:2000?
I was told that for watching movies, I'd better go for 1:3000 contrast ratio.

I would say no. The higher the ratio, the smaller the difference. Compared to VA panels, IPS offers better colour accuracy in exchange for lower contrast ratio.

Looks good! The only issue is the contrast ratio: 1:1000
Is there a similar model with 1:2500?

What do you folks think about this monitor?

It's VA. HDR 600. The contrast ratio is 1:3000 and the brightness is 350.

Since I'm the only one using the monitor and don't care about viewing angle, is this the best choice for me?

What are its disadvantages? Why would someone buy an IPS monitor with 1:1000 contrast ratio and HDR400 over this VA?
