I signed up at Red Pocket Mobile (as a test [new#] before porting my AT&T#) and could NOT get data - calls and text were ok.
I found their CS agents of no help. Re-boot and Re-set Network were all they could offer. They even sent me another sim card. No change.
Was thinking of trying an APN changer as they list Red Pocket as an option. However I still have my AT&T account and may need to put their sim back in if RP can not provide data so would need to change the APN back.
