At first I wondered why I bought one b/c I had a airport express and used Airtunes. But now that I can buy TV shows or rent movies right from the AppleTV it is def. worth it if you think you would take advantage of it.

I bought my 160 gigger refurbished from Apple.com. If it weren't for an "RFB" mark on the UPC code, I wouldn't have known it wasn't straight off the retail shelf. :D

I bought a referb, and I can't tell that it isn't brand new. All things being equal, I always buy from the Apple store.

Doesn't this get expensive paying for every episode you want to watch? Is there someway to pipe cable to your MAC? I would like to get unlimited Court TV on it. So this pay per episode is kind of bad.

My 2nd Atv arrived yesterday...

I don't even watch cable TV anymore...

I brought my :apple:TV off ebay, 160GB new in box for $290.00 shipped. At this time I believe the extra 100GB storage is worth the extra $100. I dropped my cable and just use :apple:TV. I've only purchased 1 movie, Kinky Boots, from iTunes but several $2.00 TV shows. I use it mostly to view my ripped movies off my computer and look at trailers. I love trailers.

no problems here with my refurb 40gig from the apple store -- it came with the original software version and upgraded without a hitch -- i stream everything to it.

it's a great addition to our home!

Yes, it's worth buying. :)

Occasionally I will rent movies on my ATV but most of the time I use it to view DVD's I have encoded or surf YouTube. Having a HD/SD video store at your fingertips is definitely a plus if you are not in the mood to watch anything from you own DVD collection.

Me, too. I have loved my new found ability to convert my DVDs’ files to MP4 format and view them on my Apple TV, whose user interface is exponentially better than my old Momitsu DVD player’s. Three cheers for Handbrake!

For me the :apple:TV was definitely worth the price since it enabled me to completely cancel my cable TV service. I can buy 18 full seasons of shows for the cost of a year of cable.

However, depending on your TV viewing habits, this may not be the case for you. Outside of the US, the content available is also much more limited.
