Hi,
Should you use one AppleCare+ incident for this little bending on my iPad Pro 2020 12.9”? I don’t know how it has happened if it was like this from the store or not.
I’m transporting it in my backpack to and from work and it’s there with my MacBook Pro. The iPad is solid flat against the backplate from the MacBook Pro 16” so it can’t be bent in there.

anyway as you can see in the pictures the bending is not much. When I have apples own foil protection case I can’t see that it’s bent the magnets are holding the case in the right place etc.

I’ll revive the magic keyboard with trackpad next week. I’m just hoping that this little bending don’t mess it up?

what do you think? Should I try to get it replaced on warranty and if that don’t work use a AppleCare+ incident and pay for it or just live with it?

Where is the bending? I don't see it.

The bend is minor, but I do see it. I personally don't find it acceptable for a $1000 device. However, if you try to mail it with AppleCare, maybe they send it back saying there's nothing wrong and charge you a diagnosis fee. Or they end up using one of your AppleCare claims/charge you the deductible (not sure if that's how AppleCare works, I never buy it).

If I were you, I would document the bending (pictures, specific dates and description of your daily activity) and then bring it in to a local Apple store once the Covid 19 situation calms down. Hopefully someone at the store just replaces it on the spot for you. They know it's a real issue and they know they haven't fixed it yet.

I’d say if you’re worried about whether it will work okay with the Magic Keyboard, then wait until you get it and see if you have any issues. If it works okay, then you’re good.

I see there’s a gap right in the middle between the iPad and the tabletop. Weird thing is it happens to all the four sides. Unless you happen to bend the iPad in all four sides perfectly in the middle.. looks to me its your table top that is concave.

Check your iPad against side of stainless steel ruler for a more definitive test.

Your worktop / table is bowed 😂😂😂

+1

The Pandemic has extended return windows in some regions. Don’t bother with Applecare if you can just return and repurchase.

I can’t return it as I’ll lose more money if I return it as I need it for work.

I have checked it again against more tables and the issue are still there.
But I’m not sure it’s a issue or not.
I’ll try it out with the magic keyboard when I get it and see if it’s a issue or not.

when I hold it and working with it I don’t notice any issues. And now with covid-19 all Apple stores are closed so nothing to do.

The strange thing is that it’s on all four sides almost in the middle of the iPad. So I’m guessing that’s from production and maybe it’s in apples 0,4mm tollerans level.

damn thing that I did notice it! When I hold it and look I can’t see any bending.

So then it's not an issue. Enjoy your brand new iPad! :)

My first generation 12,9" iPad Pro is also slightly bend like this and I think it's totally tolerable.
I don't know why people think, everything except the 2018/2020 iPad Pro is perfectly flat and straight. 🤷‍♂️

I have been looking at my iPhone 11 Pro Max and MacBook Pro 16”
All of them is bent more or less.

so I’m at the same conclusion as you.

Is it because of the angle you're looking at the iPad?

If the case fits and you really do not notice the issue unless looking for it, I would not burn through one incident with AppleCare +. Save it for when you drop it.

It’s not bad BUT I don’t get why they can’t get these straight 🤔

I had a hard time seeing anything resembling a bend at all, but if it bothers you, absolutely take it back.
also Apple is not perfectly correct on why there are bends or imperfect/non-perfect ipads. It is not just the aluminum’s fault, the glass display isn’t perfectly big enough to sit perfect inside the aluminum enclosure so it wraps easier with the glass being cut exact. (But that’s an issue with most everything with a display (glass or plastic) TVs, laptops, tablets, etc will never be perfect, and none of my tech is straight except my iMac (but that’s because the entire front panel is rigid glass with no metal that can bend from hotter or colder temperatures.) What I just said makes no sense, but in my brain it kind of does. 😉😂

The bending issue is actually much worse for some. You're lucky, your issue is not so prominent. See what kind of crazy bent devices people get here:
(77 pages of problems!)
And the worst problem it gets bent over time from normal usage.

I wonder if Apple has ever fixed it with the new iPad 2020? They never mentioned it so I guess there's the same problem.

What do you mean "it gets bent over time from normal usage"? My 12.9 Pro certainly hasn't.
