To me, I don't worry that there's a crack in the plastic. What worries me is that you have to force the connection. If it's just a crack in the plastic, I wouldn't bat an eye. But needing to force a connection means that it is possible to wear out or damage the USB C port over time. I would replace the cable.

Do you have to force other cables or the other end of this one as well? If you do, you may have damaged the connector inside teh Mac and should get it checked.
