I'm sure he's a scammer. Also 99% sure this is his second account. His other account 'ryan.est.2011' was offering new Mac Pros for £1350 buy it now or best offer at the weekend. For a joke I offered him £1250 (so half price) and he accepted
I called his bluff and asked if I could pop round straight away with the cash. Sadly he was too busy and the Mac Pro was already boxed up and ready to send out by his 'shipping department'. Lol! Oh, he was also too busy to take a picture for me (the listing I saw was just using a stock pic.)
The funny thing is he kept replying when I asked questions, and when I refused to pay he actually went through the motions of cancelling the sale. To avoid ebay chasing him for the fees I suppose.
I left negative feedback to try and warn people which might be why he's switched to another account. I do believe he's in or around Leicester though. When I asked why he was selling it he mentioned the name of some supposed 'studio' that was closing down. Googling it revealed it was some kind of youth arts project in Leicester, so he had some local knowledge.
It's annoying that people try to get away with this sort of thing. I've tried reporting them to eBay in the past but they just don't seem to care. I would hope that any large payments made to his paypal account would be temporarily held by Paypal as it should flag up as a possible dodgy sale.
