Resolved Is this mac right for me ?

Hey guy i recently got a 2011 macbook pro referbished and the graphics card bit the dust but still I'm getting a refund and I was wanting to get a iMac this time. This is a late 2013 27 inch mac. My question is will this be a good computer just to surf the web and watch videos and play runescape 3 at max settings.

Should be fine, but if you can find a slightly more expensive deal for an iMac with a solid state drive, I would go with that one. The 1TB (7200rpm) Hard Drive will be modern torture because it will slow everything down.

Apps will be (relatively) slow to load, pages will probably load a bit slower, etc. A solid state drive will make a 2013 computer feel relatively fast.
 
It’s from a before the iMac went retina. The hard drive won’t have as many pixels to push, so not quite the downer it would be with a retina model. I would check to see how much a 2015 model iMac with at least a Fusion drive would be. If the gap is big, you are probably best sticking with this model, and I think you would like it. But if you can stretch to the better model, you will get a much better computer (I have a 2015 27’ iMac with Fusion and it is great (although an SSD would be better)).

I don’t know about Runescape, but this would be fine for the web and videos.

Can you swap a ssd in ?
 
Yeah but only if you're comfortable with taking the screen off and replacing the tape strips that hold the screen on. After this procedure there's a chance your screen can fall off if the strips are cheap.


A repair shop can do this too but it won't be as cheap as DIY.
 
You will want to upgrade to a SSD for the hard drive, whether that's by external USB 3 (such as a Samsung T5) or taking it apart and replacing the internal one.

It's not the 5K model, but the display is still very good.
