Hello, I just purchased a 2011 Mini Server and stop by an electronics store on my way back home. I ended up buying an 8GB Kit (2 x 4GB) of the following:

Patriot Signature Line SODIMM 8GB 2x4GB PC3-10600 1333MHz

I got the 2 4GB sticks for $55

I wanted to order from OWC but couldn't resist, and something tells me I might have made a mistake.

Any experiences with these sticks? Comments/Suggestions? Thanks

Well maybe the silence confirms the fact that maybe the ram is a little unknown.

I haven't set up my mini server because the keyboard (wired) gave me problems so I'll go buy a new one today.
Is it ok to install the new ram before my first ever boot up? or should I set It up first and then do the memory install?
Thnx

i always get the Mac to a standard desktop before I do any hardware upgrades... that way I can narrow down any concerns that I have out of the box.

if I were to take a brand new Mac and install RAM before I even booted it up, how would I know that any problems came from one thing or another?

I might also suggest that once you get it set up, and confirm it is working, then pop in the Patriot RAM and see if it works. Unless someone more technical corrects me, I view it as RAM either works or it doesn't, and if you don't get kernel panics, why switch brands when you already have RAM in hand?
