Is this memory ok for my new 24 imac?

Just wondering if this is a good deal and if it is the right stuff. I have looked at best buy. circuit city, amazon and macmall and I dont seem to find anything better. Also is this the same memory that I used for my macbook? The specs read the same.

2. It's desktop memory (240-pin) and not laptop memory (200-pin).

Ok so you are saying I should buy the Laptop memory instead from newegg for my imac? Or are you saying the memory from circuit city is not going to work? I guess my confusion is that no where can I find if I should be looking for 240 pin memory or 200 pin memory.

The Circuit City RAM is not going to work and it's a bad deal. You should be looking for 200-pin PC5300 DDR2-667 SODIMMs.

That's right, the iMac uses laptop memory and not desktop. The iMac uses a 200 pin memory chip and the module is much smaller. You should always buy ram from a "ram dealer". Complete specs are very important because those basic specs can fool someone who doesn't know into thinking it will work in their computer and it doesn't on the iMac.

I just bought my memory from newegg.com. I've always had good luck with them. I bought a 1gig module by Transcend. With shipping the cost was $48-.

My only problem is the screw on my Mac will not turn. I'm using the recommended #2 phillips screw driver, but no luck. I'll probably need to bring it in as I don't want to strip the screw and mess it up.

One could argue yes because most people will look at the more expensive ram to be better but that's not necessarily the case when it comes to Apple as they charge a kings ransom for ram.

That being said, I am using the 2GB stick I just bought from 4allmemory for $129 U.S and it works perfectly in my Mac.
