Resolved Is this new: Double Tap to select range?

I just noticed that the text selection tool changes if you double tap and hold instead of just tapping once. It'll change shape and allow me to select a range of text starting from the word I originally tapped onto. (See screenshot.) Tried it in both Mail and Safari – Safari was a little bit more fickle about it than Mail; you had to wait until the magnifying glass appeared before tapping again.

Is this new to iOS 5, or did I just never notice it before?

I'm pretty sure it' done this since copy and paste came in with iOS 4.

New feature is you can select a word and you can open a dictionary now selection shows up as Define..

don't worry people have "missed out" on far worse things myself included.

It currently only seems to work for English, though. The interface is translated into German, but the option only shows up when selecting English words. I hope they'll add more languages in an update.
