Is this normal?

A few minutes ago there was a red light coming from my headphone hole/jack on my macbook. It looked like a laser. It was really bright, it didn't come out very far but it was bright. I never seen this before or is it just normal. It kinda freaked me out lol. It's gone now by the way, it lasted about a minute.

The headphone hole/jack can work analog or digital. When digital it uses a led (optical = digital).

LOL. It was really weird. I will be sure to take pictures next time.

It's a known bug. The light technically shouldn't be on unless something is plugged in or you manually changed your sound settings. It's nothing to worry about though. It's quite common.
