This never happened with my 3G but ever since I upgraded to the 3GS.....it happens.

When I turn on the iPhone, it is at the correct brightness.

When I slide to unlock, the brightness diminishes where upon the brightness will suddenly come back to normal after a few moments of use.

That's the auto brightness at work. If you don't want it to change and stay at a constant brightness all the time, go to Settings > Brightness and turn off auto brightness. Then set the desired brightness and you're good to go.

I just notice something on my 3gs yesterday. I was going to check the time so I pressed the home button and it was really really dim. I was like WTF! So I waited then I pressed it again and it was bright. It never had done that before but it started yesterday and it did it three times. Should I just turn the phone off, do a restore, or take it to apple? I haven't dropped it or anything.
