Firstly, apologies if this is a dumb question, but I'm at my wit's end here.

I'm trying to move my parents over to a Verizon MVNO (US Mobile), but my dad only uses flip phones.

The phone needs to be CDMA compatible, have LTE, and (obviously) be unlocked for use. He prefers a more rugged phone, but surprisingly, there are VERY few phones that fit the criteria. VERY. FEW.

I have managed to find this one though: Kyocera DuraSV LTE E4610.

Can ANYONE tell me whether this phone will be unlocked and able to be used on US Mobile?

Pretty slick looking phone there. I think your best bet would be to contact Verizon. I can't imagine you'll get much help on this on an iPhone forum.

Ah, meant to post it to the alternatives forum. Thanks for catching that!

Radios CDMA: BC0/BC1
LTE: B2, B4, B5, B13 (Cat. 4)
UMTS: 850/900/1900/2100

Verizon uses bands 2, 4, 5, 13, 66 on 1900, 1700 f, 700 c.

Hence, the phone is compatible on Verizon using 4/5 bands.
Is there any way to know whether the phone is locked to Verizon (if I bought it on eBay or Amazon for my father).

Ask the seller or insert a Verizon SIM card to test. You will need to find the original carrier of the device before you can actually unlock it for the intended network. You can do an IMEI number check or you can PM me maybe I can help with it.

I appreciate the offer to help, but I'm not sure testing is possible as the item is new.

I mean, it's LTE, so if it was originally made for VZW, it has to be unlocked, right?

Verizon offers the phone ... so it's compatible. Just go to Verizon Wireless site and choose basic phones, to view the details.

It’s doesn’t necessary mean it’s unlocked. It’s just mean the device is intended for Verizon. Ask the seller or confirm with Verizon on the IMEI of the device can be unlocked from Verizon. However, since US Mobile is Verizon MVNO, it doesn’t need to be unlocked.

Got everything set up with US Mobile and got the number ported over from VZW. The new phone works like a charm, and now has HD Voice and even wifi? Oddities for a flip phone for sure, but all worth it for my father to get unlimited talk & text for $10/mo. ($14 w/taxes & fees) on VZW’s LTE coverage.

Thanks again everyone.

P.S. If anyone else is interested in U.S. Mobile, let me know, so you can get $10 off your first bill, and dad can get a $10 referral credit.
