i have a client that wants to be able to look at (and work on) a file (probably Word Doc) at the same time as his boss, who is in a different state.

apparently there was software called Chalkboard years ago that would allow you to do this, but does anyone know if there's a way to do this with OS X?

thanks

Word does have change tracking built in, but it's not in real time. SubEthaEdit does it for real, if a text editor is good enough. VNC would also work, but that does show the whole desktop and the users would need to know ahead of time who will be opening the file. Do any of those fit the bill?
