Is this possible ? NETBOOK related

Hi all
Happy iOS 5 EVE !

Ive just sold all my PC gear ( full on i7, amd xfire, niceness ) due to the fact I don't play games on it and all I seem to do is browser this forum and other computer related forums.

I'm torn between 2 options, 1 of which i'm unsure if its possible

Option 1 - Laptop, all my itunes, moves for XBMC on it and run apple tv 2 from the laptop.

Option 2 - ( dont know if this is possible ) buy a small netbook, with an external HDD, store itunes lib, pics, movies for XBMC on the external HDD and run apple tv 2 from the netbook. This way its cheaper and I can also buy an iPad2

Your input / help will be very much appreciated

Yes, it's possible. But why don't you just get a NAS instead of a "regular" external HDD? That way you won't have to have your netbook running when you want to watch a movie.

Option 3 buy a 2nd hand c2d mac mini and serve up to your iPad/apple tv from that!
