Is this possible on OS X?

I've noticed that in Windows if you highlight a file the info is displayed e.g.: http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x238/tai230/Screenshot2010-09-17at95653PM.jpg
Is there a possible way to do this on OS X?

When you highlight a file, some info will appear in the right-hand pane of the finder. Alternatively, right click and "Get info" for more information and file association options.

(EDIT: It might be good to change the title to something more descriptive of what you're trying to do - see the forum guidelines!)

Go to View Options (View -> Show View Options) and click “Show Item Info”. That will show you durations for movies and dimensions for images below the filename.

Next bring up the File Inspector (Command + Option + i) and position it so it does not overlap your finder window. Now each time you click on a file or folder the information will be displayed. “More Info” is the most useful panes for viewing information about movies.
