is this possible w/o winterboard?

i wanna take off the text underneath the icons on the homepage, and also dim those icons, just like in winterboard, but i dont wanna have winterboard on my iphone, heard to many bad things.

no, you can't do either of those things without Winterboard.

Winterboard doesn't do anything bad. Just slows down a 3G if you have too much running inside WB.
