Is this possible with Lion..?

With Lion is this possible.. (example) three finger swipe right takes you to widgets but why can't a three finger swipe left take you into lauchpad?

Additionally, any way to turn off "reopen windows when logging back in" when shutting down? (stinks un-checking that every time I log off?)

It's a four or five finger pinch to get to Launchpad.

Swipe-left is reserved for additional spaces.

I agree... It should remember the choice so you don't have to uncheck every time...
