Can I use my 2013 late iMac in Target Display mode if I boot off an external hard drive into High Sierra.? I plan on using my "New to me" 2020 Mid iMac at scaled resolution of 2560x1440 and the older iMac as dual display. I have Mojave on the late 2013 27" iMac. It has all my 32 bit apps so I can boot it off internal drive if I need to.

Thoughts?

You should be able to, yes. I've used my 2013 27" in TDM before after booting it off an external HS drive just as you're looking to do, so good luck!
