If I want to put video recorded from my Panasonic DVDRAM Recorder into iDVD I must first convert it to the inferior Quicktime MPEG4, which then converts it back to MPEG2 when it burns the DVD.

This just seems silly and goes against most logic. PC software such as ULeads DVD Workshop will import the MPEG2 (or vro or vob) immediately and within a few minutes will give you a quality DVD. Why the hell is the Mac held back against something this simple?

I am honestly thinking about going back to the PC for DVD burning because this one 'fault' or purposely done limitation is causing me severe problems.

How much does ULeads cost? [$395] How much does iDVD cost? [free, if you get it with a new mac] Comparing features of a full-blown professional commercial application with the features of an essentially free beginner's software is highly unfair, don't you think? Why not compare ULeads to DVD Studio Pro, which at $499 is a better comparison. Can you import the way you want into DVD Studio Pro? If so, quit complaining. If not, well then you have something to gripe about. [I don't know the answer]

If you think putting up with Windows is worth it......see ya!

I'm interested in this question too. I'm in the exact same position as the OP, and would like a more elegant, less time-consuming solution to this. I don't really mind paying for it either (it's for work, so they pay for it anyways).
