Hey guys so finally the day has come . my aunt is goin to get the macbook pro today..But i have a doubt.. she said that Best Buy has stock.. BUT IS IT SAFE to buy from best buy.. do they give any discounts and how are their policies... plz reply soon!!:confused:

i would never buy anything from best buy... horrible return policies... if u have any small "defect" like yellow screen or anything u will not be able to return it as if u bought directly from apple without their 15% restocking fee

BestBuy = Bad news IMHO

I worked for Best Buy for 2 years.

The best thing about their business is the return policy. If she doesn't like it, she can return it within 2 weeks with no restocking fee.

Just don't let her buy the Best Buy service plan (PSP). It's a total ripoff for Apple products. If she wants an extended warranty, have her buy AppleCare from apple.com/store.

Best Buy doesn't honour the student iPod discount program, but they might have a promotion going on right now, depending on where you're located.

DONT let her buy a printer cable or any small accessory like that. Just grab the computer and leave. Don't let the idiot salesperson talk to you for a split second about their service plan, it's a total ripoff and won't help you in the least if you have a problem. Trust me, I was an idiot salesperson for Best Buy.

Well .. she's in San Jose right now and it appears only best buy has stock.. she wont be buyin anythin else though i gave her only $2100 for it... but it appears the sales tax is a whoopin @174 :eek: anyways i told her to go ahead with the purchase.. hope mine doesnt end up with a yellow screen.. I'll be gettin in most probably on 12th...:D

hmm .. I would have definitely done that , but the thing is my aunt is visiting san francisco only for 3 days.. and her schedule was finalized only on 27th.. so if the delivery missed her!! :eek: i would get screwd big time .. so i did not take da risk... :apple: hope the one i get is good!! its my frst mac!

Its safe, though I wouldn't buy their warranty, I would later get Applecare. I bought my Santa Rosa MBP 2.4 at Best Buy and it has been working fine.

I got mine at the beginning of August (during tax free weekend, a VA thing). Mine was a week 30 Santa Rosa 2.4. If it weren't for the tax free though, I would of bought it at an Apple Store, to get the educational discount. So the build dates are not going to be the most recent (Surmising from that). This may also depend on the store, because the Authorized retailers don't always get as much stock as the Apple Stores.
