For the small additional $$ I would get the new mini. There have been alot of upgrades thats worth the extra price.

if i got the new one i would, how much am i looking at to upgrade it to 4gb of ram- by myself of course- and add a faster, larger hard drive?

I imagine it would be whatever the retail (online or local shop) price for those items is in your area or the UK (if purchasing online). RAM and HDDs are pretty cheap here in the States.

Agreed, but also check the forums with the guys that have replaced the hard drives, some say you need to loosen the motherboards and others say you just need to be a little forceful with it. Make sure you are comfortable doing this!
