As per several reviews , the iPhone 16 now has a way to dial back the amount of processing and oversharppening, using the new « tone » control feature

But I wonder, is it different than the tone control that’s already present on older iPhones , writhin photographic styles ?

I mean on my iPhone 13 Pro I also have tone control, is it different ? Can this help reducing the over sharpening ?

It's a similar feature, just much more in depth. Photography Styles on the 15 and older just have 4 presets where you can slightly adjust tone and warmth.

The next generation photography styles on the 16 just offer a lot more presets and the ability to adjust more of the photo such as different color values.

as MegaBlue indicated, the UI allows for far more granular adjustment of of the tone mapping. In addition, Photographic Styles on the iPhone 16 series are applied later in the image chain and therefore can be adjusted, changed, or removed entirely after the photo has been taken. That is not true of earlier versions which permanently apply one selected style to every photo you take until that default is changed.
