Is the javascript option in your Safari settings enabled by default?

I did a DFU of iOS 11.3 to my iPhone. When I opened Safari > Advanced Settings, the javascript was OFF by default.

I wondered about this too yesterday. I updated three family iPhones and one iPad to 11.3 in the past couple of days and noticed today that all of the devices had JavaScript disabled in settings after the update.

I am pretty sure I did not activeliy disable JavaScript earlier by myself.

While I do care for information security for sure, I am not that paranoid.

The javascript options available on Android’s Chrome browser are one of my favorite features of the ecosystem :)

You can have javascript turned off, but still whitelist the sites you normally visit that would be affected by it. No javascript makes loading websites / browsing the web insanely fast (and ad free!).

Really wish iOS had a similar whitelist option instead of just simply on or off

JS is a must-have enabled things on all devices.

You can test if your JS works at this website: https://www.enable-javascript.com/

Just open it with Safari.
So the site says that JavaScript is enabled for me, but in settings the option is actually disabled. Perhaps it's more along the lines of some sort of a visual glitch after installation where it shows up as being disabled, but isn't actually disabled?

Could be a glitch. But, if I turn JavaScript off after having it enabled earlier, it really is off.

I think your right because it shows disabled on my X but websites work normally. On my iPad I turned it on then off again and the websites don’t render properly.

I've enabled it.. I mean, website would be fu***d up without JS.
I know mine sure is, as for anyone else's whose web experience runs on Squarespace. JS turned off by default means my images don't render, which is a pretty big ***damn problem. It looks as though my website is broken, which is definitely not my doing - or under my control.

What's even scarier is I know the average user won't know to turn this on. I'm trying to find work with my site, and right now the absence of header images makes things look unprofessional.

After the 10.3 update, JS was working but the switch was turned OFF.

i turned it ON and OFF a few times, and now it works correctly.

You can pretty much do this already with content blockers. Albeit probably not as streamlined as a native option.

(Apple pushes tablets as the next big thing but then hinders them from their desktop counterparts with little things like this.)
