I've booted into Windows more than I usually do the last few days and I've noticed something on my new MBP--it seems to be substantially louder (obviously indicating the fans are going faster) when I'm booted into XP or Vista.

The thread about the CPU whine being back in Vista reminded me about this. Anyone else experiencing some loud fans when booted into XP or Vista?

I'm using a Mac Pro with XP, doesn't seem any louder there than in OSX.

i was always thinking windows is fan-consuming, until my roommate got a VAIO, its probably not OS, rather BIOS.

In XP it was silent, as in OS X.

But in Vista I've seen that sometimes the fans go faster. But normally it is silent, apart from the whine of course.

Maybe all the Vista eye-candy features makes the MB or MBP go hot. (As for me, I certainly don't find anything hot in Vista, XP all the way). Microsoft made the mistake of giving eye-candy features more priority than functionality and ease of use.

In fact, before buying a Mac, I was really happy with my Thinkpad with XP. I never had viruses (OK, OK, maybe one or two, but nothing that needed more than 5 min to fix), and the so claimed "blue screen of death" almost never appeared.

But thank God I now have a Mac.:D

My fan was allways on having been using vista the last two days.

But I am going back to XP pro having gotten the blue screen(I thought they did away with that in XP?) while playing a movie.
