i think everybody is experiencing this. try restarting the iphone when this happens. some people report some success with this. also, try to avoid listening to music while browsing; most of my crashes occur when i do these two things.

i have not experienced this. what web sites are you visiting? can you post some urls to test?? were you on EDGE or WIFI?

Safari crashes for me just about every time I use it. Going to Macrumors, Facebook, Gmail, Meebo, etc. It just crashes like crazy. At least when I start it back up, it goes back to the page I was on when it crashed. I'm not sure if it's a hardware or software issue, but it's really only a minor annoyance.

Note: Most of the crashes happen when I try to navigate the page before it has fully loaded, so it's more my fault then anything probably.

What's more annoying then Safari crashing is the fairly large yellowish splotch in the upper left corner of the screen on my iPhone. Anyone else have something like that?

Lot's of similar posts in different threads. But one possible solution is to turn of phone off and then back on. Hold the sleep button down for a while till the power off slider appears, slide to off, wait a few seconds and hit the sleep button again to power on. You will see the Apple logo appear after a few seconds of the swirly thing. Some folks have recommended doing this once a day or every few days. My Safari was randomly closing after about 4 days of use, and it has not recurred after I did this once every few days. Hope this solves it.:) Note, you don't have to do a hard reset.

This is a repeat offender. When giving someone that tip, you might also want to point out that putting their phone into "STAND BY" mode is NOT actually restarting it. HOLD-DOWN the "sleep" button on the top right, until you get a RED slider at the top, and slide to turn the phone off. Then press the top right button to turn it on again. You will see the Apple logo. Also, try to clear your cache in Safari while you're at it. Go into "SETTINGS" and tap "SAFARI", clear cache should be at the bottom.

Hope that Helps,
~ CB

thanks for all the quick replies, ya'll. I did the red power slider reset and we'll see when I try to post this message if it made a difference. (iSafari crashed 3 times when creating this thread)

Edit: so far so good :)

iSafari Crashes

mostly while I am doing two things at once. If I am listening to a podcast and surfing the net (WiFi) then both the iPod and Safari application will crash. Same thing if I am listening to music and using Maps... both crash. It definitely seems more reliable while using one app at a time.

Anyone else having this problem?

:/

Yes, fortunately it crashed at the Apple store. They restored it. It happened less frequently. I also clear the cache (in Settings) and restart. Now I can surf for hours without a crash. Or if it crashes, it does so less.

Also, make sure you don't have too many web browser windows open (lower right box count). I can browse and listen to the iPod also. I never experience that type of crash.

I actually just started having this problem too, mostly when using EDGE.
Additionally, Google Maps has been crashing on me a lot too.

Thanks for the tips on the restart, but unfortunatly this sounds like a temporary fix-it solution instead of an actual fix. Hopefully Apple pushes out some kind of update to fix the problem soon.
