For the benefit of those who might not know everything already I will report back on how it works for me.

This community will be better for all if we shelve the elitism and just try to be helpful. A lot of people here have helped me a lot and I appreciate it and want to give back and not just support in cash.

OK. I've used the desktop manager for an hour now and it works cleanly. It even went to sleep while I was outside and when the mac was awakened it still was fine. Ive run different programs on the four windows and each works fine.

This is a keeper I think. Isnt this something that Leopard is going to do anyway? I think Vista does something like this also. This works very well!

VirtueDesktops is based on Desktop Manager giving almost the exact same functionality.

Desktop manager gives you virtual desktops, Virtue desktops gives you virtual desktops.

Explain to me why they are not the same kind of program?

Also Virtue desktops only stopped being supported last month because right now it is as stable as it will ever get and because of Leopards spaces.

I support people who actually try and find things themselves without resorting to asking questions that simple google searchs would easily find.

Also if you'd noticed i did actually tell you what the name of the replacement program is.

I didn't give out to anyone. I just commented on the fact that they give out this demi god status very easily. I'd initially thought it was for respected members of the community who'd earned their status be their effort in providing help to other members of the community.

it's ok brother. I have long since forgotten and forgiven any intended or unintended slam. I have forgotten it already.

Everyone starts somewhere. I only came to Imac since December so am more lost than those who started with Apple because I have to unlearn a whole lot of microsoft.

It is a culture shock and concepts are different. better, but different all the same. The unix heritage means I have a lot of learning to do but this time it isnt a waste. I wasted a generation with MS.
