iso mounting problem

I know that i can create and mount .dmg, and through conversion I can create and mount .iso files.(these files mount with an icon resembling a small white slotted drive)

My problem is that i have an application that needs to see a cd in the drive before it will access the files.(icon resembles an actual cd)

How can I mount a .iso file in such a way that will cause osx to see it as if it were a cd in the drive?

Sometimes mounting it normally works. If not, Toast is excellent at mounting images.

I'm pretty sure you can mount it through Disk Utility.
