is there anyway to install a linux OS from an iso without burning a CD?...I know this is windows on mac forum but I thought one OS will be kinda like another

yes it is possible... this is how i installed ubuntu 7.10 with vmware fusion
Also how I installed Vista RC2 in Parallels after downloading the ISO from Microsoft.
