I didn't update my iPhone to 3.0 on my MacBook at home so I don't have the ispw file on my computer. I'm currently following the steps on iClarified in order to jailbreak my phone so then I can unlock it.

I'm confused and this might be a stupid question.

The tutorial says to drop the ispw file into the Pwnage folder (which we are told to create) and that will be what you make iTunes restore (when you hold down Options and click Restore in iTunes). I downloaded the ispw but I see it is a zip file. Is that what I'm dropping in and later selecting as the restore file? Because the icon I see in the tutorial is different than the icon I have for the file. I'm getting a folder that has a lot more folders inside.

Can anyone please help me out? Thanks.

No - just removed the ZIP extension from the file I downloaded berfore unzipping it, and told it to use the ipsw extension when it asked.

Then my file looked like the one in the screen shot in the iClarified instructions.

Was that on a PC? I'm on a MacBook and it unzipped automatically, I guess, when done downloading b/c I never got to see an actual .zip file.

So you just renamed the folder? To end with .ispw

I downloaded the zip and it's now a Folder called "iPhone1,2_3-1"

Dont worry, same thing happend to me

You can do 2 things

1- Look on the TRASH there should be the ".ispw" file (it may have the .zip after the .ispw) so if it reads " iPhone 1, xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.ispw.zip" just take it out of TRASH and rename it delete the .zip,

or

2- take everything inside the "iPhone1,2_3-1" Folder and Compress it again, and if it sais .ispw.zip, you know do the same, delete the .zip

That should work, It happend to me yesterday, i was getting crazy, i downloaded 3 times and it keep showing as a discompress folder, then i Google it, and i found the answer (what i told you)

Hope my post help you...

BTW: I read this happend because of SAFARI, it is supposed not to happend with FF or other browsers. But thats just what i read, i really dont know if its true....

Thank you all so much! I really appreciate the replies. It worked and I was able to successfully jailbreak and unlock my iPhone last night. Thank you soooooo much!
