I couldn't enable "Hey Siri" on my iPhone 6s Plus and iPad Pro 9.7.

The normal progress is to give you 5 sentences to repeat after Siri. Each time, Siri will read one. Then showing Siri icon. And you repeat.

However, in my situation, the Siri icon sometimes was never shown and Siri was not listening to me at all. I believe this was some kind of network issue?

Any ideas?

How to reproduce?

Just disable "Hey Siri" and reenable it. The process should begin.

I just enabled Hey Siri.

First, I tried many many ways in this thread. It didn't work.

Then I thought maybe I could switch Siri to English and gave it a try. My default Siri was Chinese. It worked. When I switch to English, iOS downloaded new Siri voices from internet.

However, when Hey Siri in English enabled and I switched back to Chinese, Hey Siri turned off again. So switch language worked, but switching back still was the same.

So the solution was clear. I could use another Siri in Chinese so it would download from internet. The default Chinese Mainland somehow was broken.

The issue was no Siri icon shown when listening. So Siri wouldn't listen.
