Not sure if anyone else had a similar issue recently, so this is a sort of "heads up" if others have had similar experiences. I went to an Apple Store yesterday (Ross Park Mall outside of Pittsburgh, to be exact) to buy the iPhone 11 Pro. I told the Apple Store employee I was going to do the 24 month installment plan through Apple to buy the phone. When he asked for the card I planned to use for the payments, I handed him my Apple Card. He then told me that Apple/Citizens One is having issues processing payments with the Apple Card, and that I'd have to use a different card for the initial payment+taxes, then call Citizens One and have it switched.

I thought the whole situation felt odd since Apple specifically markets using the Apple Card for iPhone installment payments on their website.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

I did not have this issue purchasing on the Saturday after launch. I filled out the IUP information online for in-store pickup. It allowed me to use my Apple Card without an issue.

Interesting. Thanks for letting me know.

I did a preorder of two iPhone 11 and used the Apple Card for the initial pickup and the payments to Citizen One bank without any issues when I picked them up at the Freehold Mall in NJ. Don’t know why that location would tell you that.
