I’ve been using an external SSD from SanDisk to occasionally back up my MacBooks for about 2 years now. Currently on M2 Air 13in. The SSD is password protected and uses the SanDisk Unlocker/SanDisk Security software to allow me to enter my password. My first attempt at backing up on Sonoma 14.0 didn’t work - the SSD is visible in both System Information and SanDisk Security, however, I am unable to see the password field from within SanDisk Security, and SanDisk Unlocker does not open at all – it’s an “alias” file type. I’ve opened a ticket with them but so far (2 days) haven’t heard anything. I know I could wipe the SSD and start over, or use a different laptop to remove password protection, but I’m stubborn.
All that to ask: Are issues with SanDisk/WD software common with macOS updates? It’s a somewhat specific issue but I can’t be the only person using external SanDisk SSD on MacBook.
