After upgrading to Big Sur I noticed that some of the file type icons changed to the awful black square with "exec" written on it. In particular .zip, .dmg, and .pkg files now all use this icon. I tried changing the default app to "open with", but it makes no difference...

Any suggestions what to try? Is this just me?

As long as the files stay on my boot disk (or disks connected via USB or TB) they look OK.

But as soon as I copy them to my NAS they get all screwed up... My NAS shares are mounted on my desktop using SMB, and via TB. I tried via an Ethernet connected instead, and the files still change icon to the ugly black icon with "exec" written on it...
