Hi, I have a little issue with my aluminum macbook late 2008. It has always worked fine, until recently I decided to install Yosemite. I am stuck on a loop. Because the HD is read only somehow. I have tried several commands to open write permissions. Also I have noticed that the partition access for the main HD is gone. I only have access to the installer partition. Is there anyway to recover that access to the HD partition. Or any way to open permissions so I can finish installation?

If you the operating system before you attempted to upgrade to Yosemite was Snow Leopard, then, no that won't work as Snow Leopard did not have a recovery partition. Instead boot from the Snow Leopard install DVD by holding down the C key, then run Repair Disk and Repair Permissions.
