Two days ago, I updated my M3 Pro MacBook Pro to Sequoia 15.4. Initially, the Messages app was having trouble syncing to match my other devices; now, the new messages I can see on my iPhone and iPad are not being displayed, and new outgoing messages are either severely delayed or don't go out at all. It's also incredibly slow to launch when quit/force quit and reopened.

I've already tried syncing with iCloud and logging out of the app and back in, with no success. Is anyone else having this issue? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Definitely slow to sync but Ive also had issues quoting a reply without going into a massive workaround. This however was pre 15.4 but I would always suggest to file a bug report with Apple. I've recently done this for Messages but also with Maps.

I'm sorry you're both experiencing something similar—but also a bit relieved to know I'm not alone in this. I've also noticed that when I go (from the Messages app) to Settings > iMessage > Sync Now, the blue "syncing with iCloud" bar that used to appear at the bottom of the conversations column no longer appears. Any chance that's the same on your ends?

FYI, I did submit a report to Apple Feedback.

I can confirm I don't have such a progress (?) bar showing after forcing a "sync now". But then I never noticed it in the past really.

Thanks for checking! I'm noticing on my end that it's also affecting other elements of communication with my phone—changing the focus on my Mac doesn't affect the focus on my iPhone and vice versa. Also, dragging elements from Finder to iPhone Mirroring is also affected.

I have spend hours on the line with Apple to no avail.
I feel your pain. Even one full day, it's been far more annoying than I anticipated. I have yet to call, admittedly, but I imagine it wouldn't go any differently.
