So I have put it off for a while but I've just upgraded to iOS 12.2 on my iPhone 8 through iTunes on my PC. Before I did this I had about 27GB storage space left on my iPhone, but after the upgrade I have about 13GB left. It shows that the vast majority of space was taken in documents and data. Is it possible that this update took up 14GB of space on my iPhone or what should I account this sudden storage space decrease to? Thanks for any advice

Hi, I haven't been able to resolve this issue yet unfortunately, how did you solve it? Docs take up about 25GB of space on my iPhone now and I'm running very low.

Presume you have 64gb capacity. How often do you back up the phone? is it automatic?

If your data i.e. photos (and icloud music libary is ON if thats applicable) is backed up on icloud, just reset the phone by signing out and erasing all data on the device.

Set it up as a new iphone and use your existing apple id, and in the process you should get iOS 12.3.1 software update- go for it (not sure why you are on 12.2 still)

I have done this a few times. Have not lost any data that I backed up in icloud
