So, I got the early invite a couple days ago, got approved with a $4,000 credit limit and the max interest rate (more reason to pay off the full balance each month).
I’ve run into three annoyances so far.

1: I chose the option in the wallet app in the Apple Card to “Make Default at Apple” and that shows it works. However, if I back out, then go back to the options, it shows back up that it’s not the default and the option to “Make Default at Apple” shows up again. No matter how many times I do it; it never saves.

2: I went to Costco, Apple Pay shows it worked fine on the phone; but the card reader showed “unauthorized”. The cashier said they don’t accept MasterCard, and to use Visa - the Apple Card is MasterCard. Womp womp.
On the Apple Pay website, it shows Costco as a store that accepts Apple Pay. And on the Apple Card site, it says this:

“How to use Apple Card:
Pay with Apple Card anywhere Apple Pay is accepted”

This obviously isn’t true, or it’s a bug. Most likely it should say “Pay with Apple Card anywhere Apple Pay and MasterCard is accepted”

3: This morning my cash back from the Apple Card appeared in my Apple Cash Card account.
The Apple Card site says this:

“After Daily Cash is added to your Apple Cash card, you can send it in Messages, use it to make purchases, or apply it to your Apple Card balance.”

However, I see no option of being able to apply the cash to my Apple Card balance. I can send in messages, or transfer to my bank. I’ve asked Apple support and they said they think it’s a bug, but they will look into it further.

Overall, has some bugs/kinks but no real complaints!

Not sure of your issue. But, I did have a local grocer stop taking my MSC Apple Pay. I think they went to taking only debit cards with Apple Pay though. So, Apple's statement isn't entirely correct. Not sure if they are aware of that.

The Apple Card won't work at Costco because it uses the MasterCard processing system... and as such, Costco is unable to process the transaction. At least in the US, Costco only accepts VISA and debit cards.

Yeah it is a bit ambiguous, but if the merchant doesn't accept Mastercard, they don't accept Mastercard. Apple Pay is just Apple's wireless payment system. So Costco isn't lying that they accept Apple Pay since Apple Pay obviously works if your card is a Visa.

It's probably buried in the small text somewhere, if not bring it to Apple's attention.

Yes, I know. My point is that the Apple Card site explicitly says that Apple Card is accepted anywhere Apple Pay is, while that isn’t actually true.

Right, Costco isn’t lying.
It’s just that the Apple Card site isn’t correct. It should say Apple Card is accepted anywhere Apple Pay AND MasterCard are accepted

Really? You know the Apple Card is a Mastercard. Costco does not take Mastercard (in the US... unless as debit), so where is the issue? This sounds like like one of those instances that makes you understand why they need warnings on hairdryers not to use them in the bath/shower.

Try coming to China; we have Apple Pay here too and I'm sure you'll love being able to count on one hand the number of stores in the whole country that you'll actually be able to use Apple Card with through Apple Pay.

“Pay with Apple Card anywhere Apple Pay is accepted, and use the titanium Apple Card or card number anywhere Mastercard is accepted.”
You didn’t quote the full sentence.

Even though the support page wordings aren’t quite clear enough, it is also hard to say that they didn’t state it would only work where MasterCard is accepted.

Also, they currently doesn’t state it anywhere on their product marketing page. It’s on Apple Card product support article

I think in this case, Costco also should make their terminal more clear for their customers to show it only support VISA on payment screen when they process NFC payment. I made a similar mistake at my local costco few days ago and try to pay with Apple Pay on my Amex

Right. I wasn’t using the titanium card. I was using Apple Pay.
Oh well ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The issue is not that Costco only accepts VISA, at least in the US. It’s not that Costco does not accept MasterCard - THAT information is pretty widely known.

The issue is that the Apple Card is processed through the MasterCard network. That information has not been widely known initially, and many may not understand the impact to enterprises that do not accept MC.

Costco in the US had an exclusive deal with VISA to save on merchants’ credit card swipe fee. They are The ONLY merchant in the US who does take only VISA at Apple Pay enabled terminal, which could be confusing.

With regard to number 2, the cashier is right. Apple Pay is not a payment network of its own, but rather still uses all of the existing major card payment networks. Thus, its usage is still limited to whatever cards the store accepts just like with regular cards. Costco’s website does say that their warehouses only accept visa for credit cards (though they do honor all networks for debit), and that rule also applies when the payment is made using apple pay.

Apple’s website should say “Pay with apple card anywhere Mastercard and contactless payment is accepted”, but their arrogance doesn’t allow them to use the term contactless payment or admit that apple pay still uses the existing networks. The same happened before with the Discover debit Apple Cash card. Fortunately, however, Apple's partner banks aren't so arrogant and do provide accurate information on each card's terms and conditions.

Apple Card numbers are pretty much a randomly generated (even the number you see from the Apple Wallet).
It won’t show you accurate information except ‘Mastercard’ identifier (first 4 digit)

So you cant use Apple Card on the internet where you must put card numbers? Or link to PayPal etc...

Your Apple Card number in Wallet can be used to pay anywhere you manually enter a credit card number to pay, like on the web or within apps.

Watch the video to see where you can find your Apple Card number in Wallet >

To find your card number and information, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Wallet app on your iPhone and tap Apple Card.
  2. Then tap the more button
    ios12-facetime-more-icon.png
    .
  3. Tap Card Information.
  4. Authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, or passcode.
You see your name, card number, expiration date, security code, and card network. To copy your card number so it can be pasted, press and hold Card Number, then tap Copy.

Your card number is different than your Physical Card number and Device Account Number.

Linking to paypal i'm less sure about, though i'd think they've got systems in place for recurring payments and it should work.
