I have a Mac Mini (Mid-2011, base) that has been having some issues with disappearing iCloud calendars, a disappearing menu bar along with disc eject stalls, and boot/shut down times that have become far longer than they were a week ago (I haven't installed any new software, besides one Java update).

In my attempts to "fix" these, I have repaired permissions (only a warning about the ARDAgent SUID change appeared), verified my disc (even though this was probably irrelevant), cleaned out caches, and ran the AHT (reported no issues on quick and extended tests).

Is there anything I could do besides wiping the disc and reinstalling all of my data? I have no problem doing so, I can use my other Mac for the time being, but if there is something else I could try before starting over I would greatly appreciate any input.

Personally I would suggest just doing a fresh install.
That usually works for me and I keep most of my files and apps off of the main drive just because I do it so often. ( When updating to dev versions I usually fresh install unless it is a 10.x.x release and sometimes then just to have a fresh slate )

Maybe someone else with similar problems or a different approach can chime in to help before you spend the time reinstalling.

On a separate note; this is why I can't wait for someone to release a thunderbolt to USB3 hub soon, reinstalling OS X on my MBA goes so quickly using my USB3 thumb drive.

Thank you for the quick response! I don't have the time to do the reinstall before the weekend, so I will wait until then for more ideas.

On that other note, I can't wait for more Thunderbolt adapters to be out. I waited for what felt like ages for the Thunderbolt to FW800 adapter.

I reinstalled ML on Friday night and my original problems were solved. However, new issues with my screen (HP 2311x) arose.

Upon start up, my screen will recognize that "signal" is going through, but it remains black until I either unplug and try again or shut down and hope it works properly. Then, when my Mac mini sleeps or puts the display to sleep, I try to wake it up (usually a quick tap on the space bar) I get a "blue screen" like I have attached/detached the display. I am wondering if it has anything to do with using the HDMI->DVI adaptor that came with my mini. (Setup as Mac mini HDMI port to adaptor to DVI cable to display.)

I am willing to try anything to get this thing working. I am about 15 minutes away from an Apple Retail Store, but am hesitant about going because I do not think they could do much more than see if my issue is real (and that involves taking the mini, adaptor, and cable). My monitor works with other computers, so I doubt the monitor is the issue.

Thank you! I'll pick up an HDMI cable and see if that fixes it.
