HI Guys,
I have 2 usb drives attached to my iMac which is running snow leopard. I am trying to share the hard drives so i can install some software on my Macbook but i cant see the drives in my finder on the macbook.

I have checked all the settings on my imac and everything is shared properly but i still get nothing.

Any ideas guys?

I know you say you have everything set up properly on your iMac but in case you are possibly overlooking something, can you post a screenshot of the Sharing option of your iMac's System Prefs? Might help troubleshooting for you.

Does your iMac appear under the Shared section of your finder on your Macbook?

why not just unplug it from your iMac and plug it into your MB?

You want to "install" from another drive? You mean drag an app over? Good luck with that, not many OSX apps work like that...

Actually, most apps are like that, you open the disk image and copy it to your Applications folder. Of course it creates some other folders too when you are using it but basically you can just drag the app if you want.

I second your idea though, wireless sharing is always slower and harder than wired one

I see you have set up the drive to allow sharing but have you enabled file sharing under the Sharing option found under System Preferences?

Okay, so you have file sharing enabled on both machines?

On your MacBook, open a new Finder window on your MacBook and click on the iMac, click on Connect As and enter the Username & Password of an Admin account.
now you should see the Names of your drives as folders along with your iMacs user accounts.
