I currently have an iPhone 6S that I purchased when it was released 4 years ago and it has given me great service up until now. I replaced the battery 18 months ago, and the Health says 86%, but it dies very quickly. 10 minutes of web surfing can take 25% of the life.

In addition to that, I find that after talking to someone for 10-20 minutes my end will go mute and they can't hear me. Then when I hang up it will hang when dialing them for a good 2-3 minutes before it works again.

With that said, I would like a new iPhone. I think the XR looks like a good option of performance and screen size, but I hate to buy one now if a new one is released in a month. I would like to get a long run out of this like I did with the 6S.

Does anyone know if the Xr will be updated? And if so, will it be Sep or Oct? I know nothing is definite, but does anyone have a good idea?

If you haven't already, do a hard reboot of your phone. Failing that, back up to iCloud, do an iTunes (or Finder if Catalina) re-install and restore your iCloud backup.

My 6S works wonderfully, so assuming you're on iOS 12 (or 13) it's more than capable of running without hanging. An 86% battery should be ok.

Wait until next week for the new phone announcements; it's all just rumours atm.

On September 10t, the new iPhones will be unveiled. If you want to get a new phone, wait & see what's available then.

The new iPhones should be announced on the 10th and go on sale on the 20th.

You don't lose anything by waiting: the current XR will likely drop in price; and the new one will probably be at least a little bit better than the current one.

What you can do is either a) have the battery replaced on your 6S and keep it as a Coachella phone or something; or b) get a cheap battery pack from Wal-Mart so you can hang on for the next 15 days

Ok, thanks for the responses. Sep 10th is awesome. I looked at the "Buyer's Guide" and it looked like I might have to wait until Oct for the XR news.

I had a similar experience with my 6s. I absolutely loved the 6s and had no intention of upgrading when all of a sudden it dropped to 2 % overnight and started charging funny and getting hot while charging. I upgraded but still may take the 6s in to Apple store to get a diagnosis.
