Hey all, I'm brand new here after lurking for a while. Please feel free to delete or move this topic if I've placed it in the wrong folder.

Long story short, purchased a m1 MBA in march and have had around 20-30 kernel panics since. It usually refers to a bluetooth issue as noted in the top of the error report

"panic(cpu 0 caller 0xfffffe00251ad5b8): "busy timeout[0], (60s): 'IOBluetoothRFCOMMChannelUserClient'""

I've had the machine through Apple repairs and they were unable to diagnose any hardware problems and the retailer said they want to have a look at it but I find that kind of pointless given the fact the machine has already been through Apple.

I've reset SMC, wiped and started the machine again as new and reinstalled the OS.

Does anyone know if this is more than likely a software issue? If it is, then I don't feel it's a huge issue, im just worried that there's an undiagnosed hardware fault.

Thanks.

I know this is an oldish thread but I literally just had this problem. I will probably reset the bluetooth module but I've noticed my bluetooth has been very unstable lately, with drops in connection any time I move away from the Macbook... I'm wondering if it's something to do with a bug in Big Sur or an M1 thing as I've heard others complain about Bluetooth too.

Have you updated to the latest Big Sur? Are you on the Developer Beta?
I found earlier versions to be unstable as are the betas. The last production release was great, the Monterey beta is very green.
I would reset the BlueTooth module and also try the option to Reset Apple Devices.

I'm on the latest version of Big Sur. I'm replying because this just recently happened to me again. I reset the Bluetooth module before (though I don't know if it did anything as it didn't seem to tell me). What do you mean by reset apple devices?

Btw the kernel panic code I get is: panic(cpu 2 caller 0xfffffe001090aa1c): "busy timeout[0], (60s): 'IOBluetoothRFCOMMChannelUserClient'"
