What would cause a WD My Book external drive to have issues with mounting in Mojave? It's not a formatting issue that I'm aware of since I've added data just fine but the symptoms are: I can read/write to the external drives with everything working as it should be but the next day when I go to mount the drives, nothing works UNLESS I unplug and replug the USB. Then, everything is fine for a period of time. If this were happening to one drive, maybe I'd try re-formatting it. However, this happens on other external drives as well. The computer is an iMac w/Retina. Thanks for any suggestions or observations.

just tossing this out as something to check - it could be a cable or bad USB port or a non powered USB connection?

It's possible but the computer is new, purchased within the past few months, and I just bought a new 4TB My Book. The new Book was the one to show the issue first. I've tried mounting the drive in Disk Utility. . . no success unless I unplug the USB and replug it. Disk Utility describes it as a "disk3s2" . . . I assume that is the USB port since I also see a "disk4s2."

I turned off the Time Machine auto backup and the scheduling app, "TimeMachineEditor," and it seems to mount correctly. So, perhaps not entirely a Mojave issue, although the jury is still out on it.
