Having issues lately unlocking my iPhone 13PM with my face mask on…, done all i know well to do, same old song. Kinda got more frequent since last week, started 1st since the new update

Unless you have your apple watch set to unlock the phone, it is normal behavior if the phone does not unlock with Face ID while you are wearing your face mask.
working very reliable for me, cannot remember the last time I had to enter the passcode (or take mask off) while out wearing a mask.

I did the right set ups necessary- watch set to unlock, Wrist Detection and unlock with Apple Watch, not new to this, but it doesn’t work by me, it only works with no Mask on. Got iPhone 13 ProMax 1TB, watch 7, 45mm- GSM.

Switched from a AW S3 to S7 and I noticed that the phone has to be closer to the S7 to unlock than it did to the S3,
i.e. I'm getting the message to hold the phone closer to the watch (much) more frequently. Trying to unlock the phone a second time after moving it closer, then does then actually work ± always, which wasn't the case with the S3. With the S3 when I got that message on the phone, holding the phone closer and try to unlock it would almost never work...
A distance similar to holding the phone in the same hand as wearing the watch (as Yukari mentions), always works for me.

amazing that, with the 15.3 beta, i can now unlock my phone when masked; works every time. this should have happened a year-and a half ago, but... good to see it happening at all.
EDIT: so this worked when i set it up. went to store today, and... it did not work (nor at home later). ugh (will set it up again).
is it working for anyone?
