Hi everyone.
My mom has been using an iPhone 5c for years, and she's constantly filling up the phone with photos, and eventually the whole phone got glitchy. Some issues include:
-Unable to log into e-mail
-Unable to log into Apple ID
-Battery draining fast
-Battery says it's dead, but when you plug the phone in it still has power (usually this happens at around 50%)
-Contacts disapeared
-Texts and iMessages deleted themselves
So after weeks of trying to fix the phone for her (including wiping it clean and reinstalling all her info), we finally went to the Apple store and bought a brand new phone for her (the current iPhone 8).
I had trouble with the phone right off the bat. I was unable to restore the phone using her current Apple ID (connecting to iTunes on her Mac). I would get almost all of the way through the installation process, it would accept the username and password, but then just hang on the screen and not allow me to actually enter the phone and do anything with it.
She took the phone back to Apple Store and they said the issue was because her old phone still was logged into the Apple ID, so they had her wipe her old phone. That seemed to work and she was able to get into the new phone. I'm logged into multiple devices with my Apple ID and have never had issues, so I am not sure what it was a problem for her this time.
The next day, she started experiencing all of the same problems as the 5c. Battery draining, unable to log into Apple ID or e-mail, etc.
Does anyone know what would cause the new phone to have all these issues? Could her Apple ID be "corrupt"? A problem with the sim card? Or just bad luck?
She is going back to the Apple Store today and wants to just return the phone and get her money back. I feel so defeated. I've never had issues like this while setting up an Apple device before.
Thanks for reading my rant.
