Merhaba. İyi günler! Istanbul is a place I'd love to visit but haven't managed it yet. You seem to have quite a few places already! How long will you be there? Given such a distinctive city, I wouldn't be able to resist some skylines at dusk. :)

Çok biraz Türkçe biliyorum. :(

Merhaba!!

Just think of it more intensely, it will happen!!

not too many days, 5 in total, so I have already planned to pack snickers & light back pack to run around like crazy and get to make the most of my time. then nightly steambaths to recover :D

Skylines is definitely a must!! Thanks for making the suggestion!

If you have time you might want to take a look at Anatolian side, less history but still some beautiful places:

for example:

And you will see this big nice building from Sirkeci, so here is some information before you wonder what it is:

Thank you very much for your suggestions & links. I will be looking into them first thing tomorrow and get back to you to thank you again :D, maybe with a question or two..!

teşekkürler tekrar yunan komşu gelen!

Have a wonderful time! Please share pictures when you come back. :)

will do, thanks!!

now I am trying to decide on the equipment I am going to carry, most probably just these

100D | 28mm IS 2.8 | 40mm 2.8 and maybe the 70-300

I am really worried though that if I don't pack my erogenous 6D+85 1.2 combo, I will be forever regretting it.

I wouldn't dare to comment—don't want to be responsible for your backache or the missed shot!!! I don't have this problem any more. After too many back-aching trips out I sold my 5DII and switched to a Fuji X-E1 and X100 and feel I've regained my freedom! :)

have a good trip!

You have already listed most of the attractive places.

Other than those you've listed, I'd suggest doing a boat trip in Bosphorus which takes about two hours and goes all the way from Ortaköy to Black Sea and back.

After that you might want to visit Maiden's Tower and have a great dinner in one of the most stunning places in Istanbul.

Also, Adalar (small set of islands in Marmara Sea) is only one and half an hour away from Kabataş ferry docks (next to Dolmabahçe Palace) and is a great place to visit & take photos.

Enjoy your trip!

Sounds like great trip and you seem to have covered many of the interesting places in the Old Town. Istanbul is an amazing city with a fantastic atmosphere and you'll have a wonderful time.

I second the suggestions re the skyline - both morning (dawn) and evening (dusk) it should be spectacular as the setting of the city is superb. Likewise, a boat trip on the Bosphorus is well worth doing.

Meanwhile, enjoy the trip and above all, enjoy and savour the experience of being in one of the world's great historic and atmospheric cities.
