Hello all. I hope everyone who bit the bullet is enjoying their new iMacs. Ive had m i7 8gb RAM now for 4 days and I dont want to walk away from it. The screen is amazing. But onto my question.
Is this normal?

Are these numbers normal for converting video, cause thats about all Im doing? Handbrake is eating up everything. Im a little concerned with the page outs especially. Im not getting many beachballs but that still seems high to me. Thoughts?

Handbrake is a very intensive app. This is normal.

Ok, thats good to know.

So whats normal for Page Outs? Also, why do I have so much Inactive RAM? Shouldnt it just be Free?

100% normal. never looked at the page outs before.. will look the next time i convert something. When HB is converting it takes 700% on my Octo Mac Pro as well. But other apps always run well and i never feel a processor pinch.

I haven't checked the pageouts during a rip before, but that seems like a normal ratio PI/PO.

Go ahead and count inactive RAM as free.

Ok, glad to hear this is normal. It surprised me Handbrake was eating up so much CPU! I guess Ill leave converting videos to overnight activity. I guess thats why they made the Q, right?
