So I have the 2010 2.4ghz mac mini and iStat shows the fan running at 1800rpms at idle. My new quad 2.0 server 2011 mac mini shows in iStat the fans running at 2300rpms at idle. What do the 2.3, 2.5, and 2.7ghz minis show???

my quad server mini is running handbrake and shows CPU temp at 187F and Fan running at 5419rpm.

Seem quite high!

hand brake will heat your gear up a lot.

the fan is running fast so that is good.

your mini can run at 200 f 24/7 at least that is the rating for the cpu.

if it goes above 215 f for long times I would worry.

2300 at idle is such a high rpm for the mini as you know.
Have you used other monitoring tools like istat menus or smcfancontrol?
I saw the fan speed of the new 2.3 & 2.5 minis is 1800rpm at idle in this forum.

If you replace a HDD with a SSD does this change the idle fan speed or does it stay at 2300RPM?

How noticeable is the fan noise when the fans are running at 2300RPM?

Good to know

I was wondering what is the normal range. Thanks for alleviating my concerns. My mini server fan seems to idle around 2300 also. Guess that's the norm.
