I asked a similar question earlier this year after having used iStat many moons ago.
There was a suggestion for the Stats App but I ended using the free trial period of iStat Menus6 directly from the Developer's site. Suffice to say, I bought it. Highly customisable and clear UI, plus the fan speed control feature works a treat.
Cannot see any deals on their site but I'm happy with the cost vs functionality aspect (unless vs7 gets released today).
Perhaps download the free Stats App and compare during the iStats trial period.
I may come across poorly, but I don't think we can have our cake and eat it too.
What I mean by that is we complain incessantly about how awful subscriptions are (and they are). Yet when a developer offers a great program for short money, we try to avoid paying full price. 10 bucks isn't really that much for such a useful application and the developer should get paid a fair amount for their work. There's way too many utilities that have succumbed to the subscription model, so when a developer doesn't, I try to reward such behaviors.
I'll get off the soap box and say, its your money and your decision.

Actually, I didn't know of any utility applications that are on a subscription payment model, as I seldom buy them. Only Little Snitch and CCC6
But I agree that a developer should be remunerated for their hard work and publishing a useful well supported, bug-free program. I just looked and it USD $10.99 for a single licence or $16.49 for a Family Pack of 5 macs, which makes it good value
